1984-1994










 

1984

  • Installation of the most technologically advanced machines in Asia.The RB3 furnace had its capacity increased from 76 to 180 tons per day.


1986

  • The RB3 furnance had its capacity increased from 76 to 180 tons per day.


1987

  • TGI made its first exports to China, consisting of beer bottles for Zhuhai Brewery.


1988

  • TGI received the Asian Hi-Tech Award 1988 for Production Technology jointly given by the Asian Hi-Tech Award Committee and Thailand’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Energy.


1989

  • The Australian Prime Minister, Robert Hawke, paid a visit to the Rajburana plant.


1991

  • TGI opened a second factory in Bangplee, Samut Prakarn province, with world-class technology, the most modern in the region. The first furnace (BP1) with a capacity of 220 tons per day was started up in February. A second furnace (BP2) with a capacity of 240 tons per day was started up by year’s end.


1992

  • ACI decided to sell all their TGI shares to BJC, making BJC the majority shareholder and causing a major change in the ownership structure. As a consequence, the Australian Managing Director was replaced by a Thai MD, Khun Prasert Maekwatana.


1993

  • TGI decided to go public and was registered with the Ministry of Commerce on 3 January 1994


1994

  • A new furnace (TW1) with a capacity of 60 tons per day was built at Bangplee for the production of tableware
